In continuance with the previous thread I created regarding fouled spark plugs which seems to indicate much of the engine issues are from piggback tunes.

To help organize information and make it easier for everyone to diagnose & resolve their problems, I'd like to start a new thread where we can combine all the piggyback chip discussions into one area. So let us know if you've experienced any engine misfires, cracked/fouled plugs, bad coils resulting from piggyback chips. In addition, let us know if you've found any solutions to resolve the problem.

**Please notate specific brands, engine size in your replies along with any mods you've added (i.e. exhaust, downpipes, intakes, cooler plugs, etc.).

Mods please pin this thread if its a good idea.

Great idea! We just released this today so thought id share it here as well!

UPDATE:

For those using the chip we have confirmed the upgraded plugs for the 3.3TT to be HKS M45iL, this should be the solution for customers using the chip with the 3.3TT.

Those using the 2.0T need to upgrade to the HKS M45XL

In CA, the majority of gas we get are 91 octane, has anyone considered octane level being one of the factors to misfires and knocks? Or is this strictly a spark plug issue and the solution is to use the HKS M45iL?

Have these been thoroughly tested and verified by Stinger owners to resolve the issues everyone's been talking about?

No, and won?t be for awhile. Wait until an owner puts 30-50k miles on his car.

Some members were reporting misfires within 100 miles on the Lap3.

Exactly. So until people get it straightened out and have extensive driving on the motor I would wait.

I should have phrased the question better. I meant to ask if they have thoroughly tested the HKS M45iL to address the misfire or are they assuming this would fix it without any real world data.

I think it was Stinger that said that after he removed the chip and they replaced the cracked plug, the new one cracked also, so why did the second one crack there was no chip

From what I gather the second plug cracked because of a bad coil.

We've been in communication with Lap3 in Korea about the chip being used on the Stinger. That being said we've been told that this is a viable solution to misfiring.

I trust that they have looked into this or tested this and not just telling us as a band aid answer
